Arrowroot powder is a starchy substance, extracted from the tubers of arrowroot plants known as 'Maranta arundinacea'.
Arrowroot powder is a great thickener and can easily replace cornstarch. It has no taste and makes food glossy and clear. Can also be blend with other flours. Arrowroot powder is more easily digestible.
Mix 2 tablespoons of arrowroot powder with 1/4 cup of cold water, then whisk the slurry into a hot liquid for about 30 seconds before adding to sauces and stews.
