Serrano Red Chili Whole

Serrano Peppers as they mature, allowed to ripen longer on the plant until turn scarlet red. The peppers are then harvested and lightly smoked dried (due to thick walls, making them difficult to dry in the sun).
Dried serrano chili is typically very hot, and have sweet, earthy, fruity and mildly smoky flavor with acidic undertones. Smoked chilies can be ground into flakes or fine powder or use whole or toasted on fry pan, and used for flavoring stews, casseroles, egg dishes, or in any type of sauce.
