Lotus tree's fruit aka Silver berry or Oleaster fruit or Russian olive. It has been said that when lotus tree is in full bloom, its fragrance and its fruit make people fall in love. Much loved by Persians and Afghans and used as part of the Iranian haft-sin for Nowrooz, the traditional persian spring celebration.
Flake the skin off, discard the stone and eat the fruit. The taste and texture are somewhere between dates and candy-floss.
In Iran, the dried powder of the fruits is used mixed with milk for rheumatoid arthritis and joint pain.
