Popcorn rice is grown in Louisiana, is a basmati hybrid, has rich, nutty flavor and popcorn like aroma. When cooked rice's texture is fluffy and has a firm consistency, grains stay separate.
Served as a side dish with stir-fries, sauces, beans and curries. And most excellent option for rice pudding.
Cooking Instructions for plain rice: 1. In a sauce pan add 2 cups of water/ Cup of washed & rinsed rice, 1 Tbsp cooking oil and 1 tsp salt (optional). 2. Stir lightly, bring to a rolling boil, lower the heat, cover with lid and simmer for 20 minutes. 3. Turn off the heat, let the rice steamed in the covered pot at least another 5 minutes or until the rice has absorbed the liquid.
One cup of rice will yield: 2 1/2 cups of cooked rice.
