Karaya Gum also known as ‘Indian gum’, is an exudate of sterculia trees, possesses certain physical properties that makes it superior to Tragacanth gum for some purposes. It is more soluble in water than Taragacanth.
Karaya gum is used as emulsifier, stabilizer, thickener, binder and gelling agent in medications, cosmetics, foods and beverages.
Karaya gum may be used for the development of the gastrointestinal tract, stimulating the gut to expel waste material.
