It's a Peruvian pointy dried corn kernels,when heated (toasted), the inside of the kernels pop, and will even jump right out of the skillet, they expand and become soft. Inside do not burst out and do not puff up like regular popcorn.
Chulpe corn is toasted in big terracotta pans placed directly on a heat source, or cooked on a low fire with a little bit of oil or butter, onions and salt.It can be consumed as an appetizer with a bit of salt or to accompany some soups or traditional Colombian dishes.
