Yellow split peas are de-hulled & split yellow peas, low in fat and high in protein and fiber. When cooked, have a delicate flavor and make a wonderful, slightly hearty, thick and creamy texture. Used to make wholesome soups, dal, curries, and side dish.
Rinse and soak overnight & drain. Add 3 cups of water/ cup of peas, bring to boil. Lower the heat, cook covered 40-50 minutes, or until tender, soft & mushy (add more water as needed). Cook the peas little more uncovered over low heat until desired consistency and remove the floating foam. Add salt to taste and any seasonings as desired. Serve or add to prepare your favorite dish.
