Dawa Dawa is fermented and processed locust
beans, ground into a fine powder, commonly
used as a condiment in African Cuisine. It adds
adds an intense pungent and umami flavor,
brings depth and complexity to stews, soups,
curries, rice, seafood and vegetable dishes.
Mostly used as a condiment for 'efo riro' or
in cooking traditional soups like 'egusi soup',
'okro soup' and 'ogbono soup', 'mafeh soup'.
Nutritionally, African locust bean tree seeds
contain significant amounts of calcium, fats,
and protein, also serve as an antioxidant.
