Potassium Bicarbonate (Potassium Hydrogen Carbonate) is a colorless, odorless, slightly alkaline, salty substance and used as a source of carbon dioxide for leavening in baking.

Also used as an additive in wine making and as a base in foods and to regulate pH, added to club soda to soften the effect of effervescence, often added to bottled water to affect taste.

Also used in medicine as an antacid and as a fire suppression agent ("BC dry chemical") and also in farming to neutralize acidic soil.
