The chiltepin pepper are a variety of bird pepper, a tiny, round shaped quite spicy pepper, native to North America , grown wild throughout U.S.A and Mexico.
Has very intense heat with a complex fruity flavor often overshadowed by its fiery spice. A little pinch of chiltepin is enough to bring life to southwestern and Mexican dishes.
Can be ground into powder or flakes and used in soups, stews, vinegar, chili, and egg-based dishes. Also used as a preservative for meat, preparation of seafood dishes or added to sauces, marinades, and dry rubs.
