Teppal (Tirphal)

Teppal is the outer husk of a Indian dried berry, a variety of Sichuan pepper, grown in Goan and in the rain forests of the West Coast of India.
Intensity: Not hot or pungent.
Flavor & Aroma: Distinct aromatic fragrance,lemon like flavor, tongue tingling, warm & woody overtone.
Uses: Used for Konkani, Marathi and Goan vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, stir- fry and gravies. Goes best with coconut and fish dishes.
Note: Should be slightly crushed in one tablespoon of water, and then added to the dish, if grounded dish get very strong and bitter.
* Teppal/ Tirphal has anti-flatulent properties and cure dysentery.
