Cassia Cinnamon Bark Chips, Indonesian
(Cinnamomum cassia)
Cassia Cinnamon chips are dried thick inner aromatic bark of a South Asian Cassia
evergreen tree. Cut into little pieces (approximately ¼ in. to ½ in.). It has a thick and a rough texture, and has a stronger and sweeter flavor than true Ceylon cinnamon bark. Has the standard cinnamon flavor and about 2.5% oil content.
Suggested Uses:
Cinnamon chips are a versatile spice, used as a flavor-enhancer in baking and cooking.
These chips are perfect for flavoring drinks, specially used in chai tea blends, bitters,
pickling spice blends, mulled drinks, baking goods, and savory dishes.
The chips release more flavor than sticks, but are still easy to remove or strain
from an infusion.
Health Benefits:
Cassia Cinnamon is used as a digestive aid, carminative and stimulant tonic.
*Warning: Cassia cinnamon is believed to be harmful in large doses due to its high
coumarin content.
