Colusari Red Rice
This medium-whole grain rice with reddish-burgundy color, grows near Colusa County, California. It has chewy texture, light nutty flavor, and delicious taste. Rice holds its color after cooking.
Works well as side dish, salad or blend with cooked wild rice, brown rice or other whole grains.
Cooking Instructions for plain rice:
- In a sauce pan add 4 cups of water or broth / 1 Cup rice, 1 tsp sat (opt).
- Bring to a boil, lower the heat, cover with lid and simmer for 30-40 minutes or until grains are tender.
- Turn off the heat, let the rice steamed in the covered pot at least another 10 minutes or until the rice has absorbed the liquid.
- Fluff with fork and ready to serve rice alone.
One cup of rice will yield: 3 cups of cooked rice.
