Thai Red rice is unpolished aromatic whole grain with only husk is removed, retaining the red bran layer & germ. When cooked it is sweet and nutty, soft in texture. Used for steamed rice, fried rice, stir fry dishes and rice pudding, or as a side, alternative to other long-grain rice
Cooking Instructions for plain rice:
1. In a sauce pan add 2 cups of water/ Cup of washed & rinsed rice, add a pinch of salt to taste (optional) 2. Stir lightly, bring to a rolling boil, lower the heat, cover with lid and simmer for 40 minutes or until rice is tender. 3. Turn off the heat, let the rice steamed in the covered pot at least another 5-10 minutes or until the rice has absorbed the liquid. 4. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
One cup of rice will yield: 2 1/2 cups of cooked rice.
