Crab & shrimp boil spice mix is a traditional & flavorful blend used for boiling shrimp, crawfish, crab or lobster, and is very popular along the southeast coast of the United States. This spice mix can be grounded to season fish or seafood.
Typical usage: 3-4tbsp spice mix pack is enough to boil approximately 2-3lb shrimp or 8-10 crabs.
Simple Recipe to boil shrimp:
Put 3-4 tablespoons spice mix in a muslin bag or tea ball, add to 4 quarts of water in a cooking pot. Simmer, covered, about 15 minutes to allow the spices time to release their flavors. Add 2-3lbs of shrimp, bring water to a boil, and cook about 2 minutes. Once boiling begins, strain shrimp out of the hot water to avoid overcooking.
