Allspice is the sun-dried unripe berry of the evergreen 'Pimento Diocia' plant. It has aromatic, warm and sweetly pungent taste like a combination of spices of cinnamon, cloves, ginger and nutmeg with peppery overtone, slightly bitter, earthy, and fruity.
Suggested Uses:
Allspice is a main flavor used in barbecue sauces, in pickling, spice blends & curry powders. Also used in pudding, sweets & desserts, hot drinks, stews & meat dishes, and as a baking spice in cakes, cookies, pies.
Health benefits:
Drink Allspice tea after-meal to ease digestion. Stir 1/2 tsp of Allspice ground in a cup of boiling water, steep 3-5 minutes, and drink up to 3 cups/day.
