Barley Couscous is made from cracked barley, has more natural, nutty flavor and grainy texture. Use as a part of a salad, or prepare with hearty meat and vegetable combos.
To prepare Couscous (Soaking Process): Place 1 cup barley couscous in the bowl, rub some vegetable oil until all grains are well coated. Add 1 1/2 cups of boiling water and a pinch of salt, cover the bowl with the plastic wrap, let sit for 10 minutes or until couscous has absorbed all the water and the grains became plump. Unwrap and add a little bit of butter, fluff with a fork and serve in a plate.
1 cup dry couscous will yield 3 cup cooked couscous
I love the flavor and texture of the Barley Coucous (Belboula/D'orge), but the product was shipped to me from Europe, and one of the two boxes had partially split open during shipping, causing the couscous to spill out into the package. Either the product packaging needs to be improved or the packing for shipping shipping needs to be improved.
