Calcium Hydroxide (Hydrated / Slaked Lime Powder)
‘Also called 'Chuna Powder or Pickling Lime.' It is low in toxicity, is slightly soluble in water, has mildness of its basic properties. Saturated in a water solution to make lime water.
Used to make pickles extra crunchy. Also used to fortify fruit drinks, process water for alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. Corn cooked with Calcium Hydroxide becomes Hominy to make Masa Harina, tortillas.
Reacts with konjac gum for shirataki noodles and plant-based seafood.
