Chicken Masala
For 'Masala Chicken ' or ‘Chicken Bhuna’
This warming and arromatic Spice blend for making delicious North Indian Style ‘Masala
Chicken Curry in thick gravy' or ‘Chicken Bhuna’. This chicken masala powder gives
a fragrant thicker gravy content where pieces of chicken are simmered in the sauce to
prepare a delicious tasty Masala Chicken, that is served with rice or any flatbreads
like naan, roti or paratha.
Ingredients:
Coriander, Cumin, Turmeric, Ginger, Black Pepper, Red Chili Powder, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Cardamom, Cloves.
Simple recipe for chicken masala with a thick or liquid gravy
Add 2 tbsp oil to a heated pan, add 1 small chopped onion, stir fry until translucent, add 1 tbsp ginger & garlic paste, stir, add little water if needed, stir, add 1 lb cut pieces of Chicken, fry a little till the sides of the chicken turns light brown, add 2 tbsp chicken masala, salt to taste, stir-fry for 3-5 minutes, add 1 cup diced tomatoes, and let the chicken cook in this till the tomato gravy thickens.
For thick gravy (chicken bhuna), add 3 tbsp yogurt, stir and cover and let it cook till the Chicken pieces are soft & tender,
Or for liquid gravy (chicken curry) add 1 cup of broth or water, bring to boil, cover & simmer on low heat until the Chicken pieces are soft & tender.
Garnish with fresh chopped cilantro (coriander) and serve steaming hot over rice or accompanied with a piece of warm naan bread.
