Cumin seeds, the small dried fruit of an annual plant, is native to the Mediterranean, and has a distinctive earthy flavor and strong, warm aroma.
It is a very popular spice used in cooking. Mostly used in eggs, rice, meat, fish or vegetable dishes, seasoning blends, breads, sauces, gravies and many more.
Usually tempered in oil or dry roasted and ground before adding to the dishes.
A little goes a long way. Fresh and potent, a new staple for my cumin seed dishes.
