Dal Makhani Spice Mix
Dal Makhani is a creamy and rich comfort food, popular in Northern India. Dal Makhani is
made with whole black lentils & red kidney beans, slow cooked with Dal Makhani masala
spices, along with butter & cream until buttery smooth consistency and buildup of
delicious-aromatic flavors.
Ingredients: Coriander, Chilli powder, Dry Mango Powder, Ginger, Garlic, Black Pepper, Cinnamon, Cloves, Nutmeg, Bay Leaf, Star Anise, Mace, Asafoetida
Recipe to make Dal Makhani:
Soak overnight ½ cup Black Lentils (Urad whole) and ¼ cup Red Kidney beans. Strain away water. Boil the beans with 1.5-liter water in a deep pan till they are soft (add more water
if required). In another pan cook 1/2 cup tomato puree & 1Tbsp Dal Makhani masala,
add it to boiled beans, add salt to taste. Mix and add 1/2tsp hand crushed Kasuri methi, ¼ cup cream and 30g butter, simmer for 10 min. Serve with Tandoori Paratha, Naan or Rice.
