Made from finely ground Chana dal (hulled split Bengal gram). This gluten free flour, has sweet and nutty flavor and binding nature, rich in protein, lower in calories and carbohydrates.
Used in Indian subcontinental cooking, baking, and in preparation of sweets and savory snacks. Mostly in fritters/pakoda, North-Indian Kadhi (yogurt based soup), savory snacks (dhokla, boondi, sev), sweets, desserts, breads, and also as thickener in soups, sauces or batters.
It is also used as a facial exfoliant.
