Tragacanth Gum also known as ‘Shiraz gum’, is a natural dried sap obtained from the roots & stems of genus Astragalus. Used for thickening and stabilizing cosmetic.
In foods, tragacanth is important for stabilizing and thickening ingredients in salad dressings, foods, and beverages.
When soaked in water (at a 2-4 % concentration) for few hours, it does not dissolve but absorbs water & swells/fluffs up too many times its original size. It is mostly consumed as a beverage for cooling you down during hot summers. It is one of the best energy and immunity boosters as well.
