Indian hemp root, also known as Dogbane or Black Hemp, unpleasantly bitter stimulant irritant herb, acts on the heart, respiratory and urinary systems, and on the uterus. Mostly used for treating various complaints such as coughs, rheumatism, asthma, whooping cough, internal parasites, syphilis, or diarrhea. Use the weak tea made from dried roots for cardiac problems (care should be observed).
To make Tea: Put 1/2tsp root in a cup of boiling water, Steep for 10-15 min; take 1tbsp tea 3-5 times/day. Can be highly toxic in high doses.
