Kudampuli
Garcinia Cambodge

Commonly known as 'Gambodge (French), Malabar tamarind, Brindle berry (English),
Goraka, Fish tamarind (India)'
Kudampuli is dried fruit of garcina cambogia tree, grows in moist forest of Karnataka
/Kerala, India, and west and central Africa. The ripened fruit is plucked from vine,
sun-dried & smoked until it turns black and leathery.It impart a delicious sour/ tangy taste,
due to presence of a hydroxycitric acid.
Suggested Uses:
It is used as a souring agent in cooking and food preparation, especially in fish curries
and seafood.
Soak it in normal or warm water for few minutes and then add the water to your dish.
It will provide a hint of sourness to the dish.
Health Benefits:
In Ayurveda, Kudampuli is known to have medicinal values like providing relief for
arthritis pain and ulcers, aiding digestion and an effective catalyst for weight loss.
