Red Keeri Samba rice has the smallest grain grown in Sri Lanka, has a distinct acquired taste preferred mainly by the locals. When cooked is less 'fluffy' in texture, gives a more filling meal with a higher caloric value.
Cooking Instructions for plain rice: 1. In a large sauce pan add 3 cups of water with 1 Cup of washed & rinsed rice, add 1/3 tsp salt (optional) 2. Stir lightly, bring to a rolling boil, lower the heat, cover with lid and simmer for 15-20 minutes. 3. Turn off the heat, let the rice steamed in the covered pot at least another 5 minutes or until the rice has absorbs all the liquid. 4. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
