Matsutake mushrooms (aka 'Pine Mushroom')
are a wild Japanese mushroom that grows in
of Asia and the Pacific Northwest. Known for
for their thick, fibrous white flesh. Mushrooms
are picked, sliced and dried same day to
preserve the distinctive pungent, earthy, spicy
pine & cinnamon flavor and aroma.
Matsutakes are a very popular Asian food.
Cooking them either by steaming, roasting,
broiling or in a simple, clear soup. Add to rice
dishes, or other cooked grain recipes.
Reconstitute: Rinse and soak in boiling water
for 15-20 min, agitating occasionally, drain
and add to the recipe. Or rinse and add
directly that will cook for at least 25 min.
