Hot Oriental Mustard Powder
(Brassica juncea)
AKA ‘Chinese Hot Mustard’
This sharply spicy condiment, prepared from the ground brown mustard seeds of the
cruciferous plant Brassica juncea. It has a very strong pungent taste, sharp heat
and rich flavor, and it’ll wake your taste buds up. It makes a good Chinese hot mustard.
Usually added to enhance flavor of fine Japanese, Chinese and other oriental dishes.
Suggested Uses:
Use this hot mustard powder to make a great dipping sauce for egg rolls, meats,
dumplings and other Asian appetizers. Also be used in sauces or marinades to
add a little kick to the flavor.
To make hot mustard: Mix 2 tsp of mustard powder with 3 tsp cold water and allows to
stand for 4-5 minutes.

Mustard seeds are an excellent source of selenium and a very good source of omega-3
