AKA 'Split Mustard Seeds, Rai Kuria or Mustard Dal'
These cracked mustard seeds are made from yellow mustard seeds with the skin removed
and lightly crushed to get cracked (split) mustard seeds. Has a fresh clean aroma
and a pungent biting flavor, slightly earthy bitter taste. Soaking in water will also bring out
the full flavors.
Suggested Uses:
Cracked mustard seeds are the life and soul of all Indian pickles, gives the special tangy taste. Also used in to make SPECIAL Bengali fish (Hilsha) sauce. Can be added to cucumbers
(fresh or pickled), boiled with beets, beans, cabbage or sauerkraut and coleslaw.
Split Mustard Seeds is an excellent preservative, also be used as a garnish or
make your own mustard condiment.
