Indonesian Style Fried Rice Seasoning
This flavorful, sweet and spicy seasoning mix is to make 'Nasi Goreng', the Southeast Asian
stir-fried rice dish with pieces of meat and vegetables. Often leftover or precooked rice
is stir-fried with a Nasi Goreng Seasoning along with Mixed Vegetable, Shrimp or Meat,
yielding a delicious, richly flavored savory Rice dish, topped with fried eggs or prawn crackers.
Indonesian 'Chili Sambal paste' can be prepared with this seasoning mix.
To make a sambal paste: Mix one measure of Nasi Goreng spice mix with an equal quantity of water. Add half a measure of oil and stir until blended.
To make Nasi Goreng Rice:
Bring 100ml water to a boil, 2tbsp nasi goreng mix and soak for 10 min. Heat 2tbsp vegetable oil in a wok over a high heat, add 2 chicken breast cut into thin slices, cook till browned. Add the soaked Nasi goreng mix and 8oz cleaned prawn, stir well, cook for 4-5minutes, add 4oz cut string beans, 4 sliced spring onion and 1-2 cups cold cooked rice, stir and mix well (may add little water if needed). Season with ‘ketjap manis’ to taste and served with a lightly fired egg, some cucumber slices and prawn crackers on top of the rice.
