Ogbono seeds are the edible mango-like-fruit seed-nut of Ogbono tree, grows along the rain forest belt of Central and West Africa. These sun dried seed-nuts are especially valued for their fat- and protein-rich content.
Ogbono is deliciously aromatic and add an incredible rich nutty flavor to African dishes.
Suggested Uses:
The dried ogbono seeds can be ground and used for preparing ogbono soup, stew gabon
chocolate and dika bread. Their high content of mucilage enables them to add a thickening
consistency to Soups/Stews.
Ogbono soup is a special delicacy eaten by Nigerians and other Africans. The Igbo people
of Nigeria use ogbono soup to eat various kinds of starchy foods.
