AKA ‘Zi Su Zi’
Perilla Seeds are tiny, greyish aromatic seeds, harvested from the perilla plant, native to
Southeast Asia and Indian highlands. It has an intense aroma and flavor and rich in essential fatty acids, dietary fiber & Omega-3 as well.
In foods, perilla is used as a flavoring. Perilla seeds are usually consumed not as whole
seeds but as ground into a powder or roasted.
Culinary uses of this powerhouse herb are almost endless--from salads, to sushi to pickling. Ground perilla seeds are used to thicken and add a nutty, herbal flavor and creamy texture to many soups and stews, as well as vegetable dishes.
Also eaten by sprinkling roasted perilla seeds on salads.
The oil contained within the Brown Perilla seed is high in omega-3 fatty acids. Perilla
