This is an authentic South African seasoning blend with a touch of fiery heat, originated in Mozambique, Portuguese. It’s a delicious blend of pungent and savory spices, including ‘Piri-Piri’ (African bird's eye chili), that gives a potent boost of African flavor and outstanding heat.
It is perfect as a dry rub or mix with a little lemon juice and oil and use to marinate for chicken, seafood or steak, or lightly sprinkle on shrimp. Usage: Use 1-2 Tbsp Peri Peri seasoning per pound of meat or seafood.
To make Portuguese style hot pepper sauce / bbq sauce: Mix 1/4 cup of Piri-Piri seasoning to 1 cup of olive oil & the juice of 1 lemon, blend in a food processor until smooth. To prepare Portuguese style grilled Chicken Wings: In a bowl mix 1tbsp oil & 2tbsp seasoning and rub on 10-12 chicken Wing Drummettes, grill over med-high heat until cooked through.
