Short grain rice are plum rice kernels, are a tiny bit longer than it is wide, almost round. They have a high starch content and cooks up soft, chewy and sticky.

Cooking Instructions for plain rice:

  1. In a sauce pan add 1 1/2 cups of water or broth / Cup rice, salt to taste, 1Tbsp butter (if desired).

  2. Bring to a soft boil, lower the heat, cover with lid and simmer for 15-20 minutes.

  3. Turn off the heat, let the rice steamed in the covered pot at least another 10 minutes or until the rice has absorbed the liquid.

  4. Fluff with fork and ready to serve rice alone.

One cup of rice will yield: 2 ½ cups of cooked rice.
