Wehani rice is a hybrid reddish brown whole grain aromatic rice developed from Indian basmati rice.
When cooked it turns an earthy honey-red color, nutty & slightly chewy and has aroma of hot peanuts or popcorn.
Use in pilafs and as a side dish.
Cooking Instructions for plain rice:
- In a sauce pan add 2 cups of water or broth / Cup rice, 1/2 tsp sat (opt), 1 Tbsp butter (if desired).
- Bring to a boil, lower the heat, cover with lid and simmer for 45-50 minutes.
- Turn off the heat, let the rice steamed in the covered pot at least another 10 minutes or until the rice has absorbed the liquid.
- Fluff with fork and ready to serve.
One cup of rice will yield: 3 cups of cooked rice.
