Wild rice is the edible long grain of grass plant, grows wild in the lakes & riverbeds. This rice have dark obsidian color, nutty & earthy flavor and slightly crunchy texture.
It adds unique character to grain salads, stuffing, side dishes, soups, savory and sweet recipes.
Cooking Instructions for plain rice:
- In a sauce pan add 4 cups of water or broth / Cup rice, 1 tsp salt (opt),
- Bring to a boil, lower the heat, cover with lid and simmer for 40-minutes.
- Turn off the heat, let the rice steamed in the covered pot at least another 5-10 minutes or until the rice has absorbed the liquid.
- Fluff with fork, season to taste and ready to serve.
One cup of rice will yield: 3 1/2 cups of cooked rice.
